Choreographers

Step Up dance project 2021 is curated by Marguerite Donlon, International choreographer. She is the Artistic Ballet director and resident choreographer of Ballet Hagen at Theater Hagen.  She is also the founder and director of Donlon Dance Collective, A project company based in Berlin. David Bolger - New Creation

​

David Bolger (Ireland) is the Artistic Director and co-founder of CoisCéim Dance Theatre. His work has been seen by millions of people worldwide and has received prestigious awards for its innovation, performance and choreography. Over the last two decades, David has directed and choreographed over 20 original productions for CoisCéim, including the acclaimed Swimming with my Mother; Agnes; The Wolf and Peter and Body Language. More info on David's work here.

Lucyna Zwolinska - New Creation

​

Lucyna Zwolinska was born in Poland and began her training at Ballet School in Bytom. From 2003 she continued her dance education on scholarship at High School of Music & Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main(Germany), where she also danced in works by Georg Balanchine, William Forsythe and Marguerite Donlon. In 2006, she had the honor of dancing with The Forsythe Company in „Human Rights”.In 2010 she joined Ballet Augsburg for three seasons and had the opportunity to perform works by Itzik Galili, Mauro Bigonzetti, Kevin O’Day, Amanda Miller, Cayetano Soto, Emily Molnar, Leo Mujic and Philip Egly. Ariel Freedman - Roy Assaf Repertoire

​

Ariel (Israel) began dancing, creating with and assisting Roy Assaf in 2013, becoming an Artistic Associate of the Roy Assaf Dance Company in 2018. She is one of the Girls, an originator of Figure No. 16, and has accompanied Roy in the creation of Boys, as well as in creations and stagings for the Venice Biennale, the Royal Swedish Opera (Ballader), Springboard Danse Montreal, and The Juilliard School (A Girl, 25 People). Ariel earned her BFA at The Juilliard School, where she was a recipient of the Martha Hill Prize. After graduating, she performed with Aszure Barton's AszURe & Artists, Mikhail Baryshnikov's Hell's Kitchen Dance, and David Parker and The Bang Group.

Rivca Rubin - Coaching

​

Rivca (England) encourages artists to ascertain their vision, locate the essence and refine their practice, grow purpose, align practice to values, and create working cultures people engage with, flourish and enjoy working in. Eoin Mac Donncha - Ballet master / Co-Rehearsal Director

 

Eoin (Ireland/Hungary) trained at The Rambert School of Ballet in London before working at various state theatres in Germany including Stadtheater Giessen and Staatstheter Saarbrucken. He has worked with the Cathy Sharp Dance Company, Switzerland, the Expressions Dance Company, Australia, and has danced for Ballet Hagen under the direction of renown choreographers including Wayne McGreggor. Currently, he works as a soloist in Budapest with choreographer Pál Frenák.  Eoin has taught at the Hong Kong academy of performing arts in Hong Kong, and has set a piece for the students of the graduating year there.

Laura Macken, Co-Rehearsal Director

​

Laura Macken (Ireland) trained at The Irish National College of Dance and joined Dublin City Ballet as a student member at the age of 15. Dancing with the company for several years Laura danced corps de ballet and solo roles in ballets such as Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Pas de Quatre, and Gisele. Laura teaches company classes and has worked as rehearsal director for John Scott Dance for several projects. Laura has taught on past Step Up programmes in 2013 and 2018, and in 2020 and 2021 took on the role of Rehearsal Director. More info lauramackendance.com.
